Drink This: Our Favorite Patios for Fall Festivities
That cozy autumn weather we’ve all been dreaming of since day two of summer is slowly approaching, and we couldn’t be happier. Here are five fall patios fit for enjoying a cold one or a cocktail with your best drinking pals
At High Fives, you can expect to enjoy drinks for any taste on a dog-friendly patio with the best good boy viewing in town. If you’re a Texas Tech fan, you’re probably already here on Saturday afternoons for a lively patio gameday atmosphere that pairs perfectly with the fall vibe we’re after. Good food and good prices are a staple here (hello, totchos for $8), and if you happen to be looking for a seriously good burger to pair, this place has you covered. Check out High Fives Monday to Friday from 4 to 7 to get their $5 happy hour drink special on select beer, wine, and cocktails. Plus, it’s scootering distance to Lowest Greenville and Henderson, making it an ideal midway stop on any crawl.
Cold Beer Company
Cold Beer Company is a beer-lover’s dream come true just on the edge of Deep Ellum. This joint has a hefty list of diverse beers both on tap and canned from around the country, along with what we’re sure is the best bar food in the city, with many raving specifically about the gourmet hot dogs. If you like your meat flatter, they serve a burger on Tuesday that will make you a regular here. The outdoor seating is cozy with our favorite decor, inviting for both large groups and intimate gatherings.
With a truly impressive tap list that reaches the triple digits and a giant courtyard in the heart of Deep Ellum, Dot’s provides plenty of opportunity to waste a whole evening away with friends. It’s almost too much the first time you walk in, but after a few visits, you’ll have a favorite table and a favorite beer. But what if you tried that table over there and that other beer you’ve been eyeing? It couldn’t hurt. In fact, you should probably come back tomorrow and see if maybe that third table is more to your liking.
Truck Yard is mega popular and for good reason. Our pro Instagrammers will find joy in the quirky aesthetic for a quick photo-op, and foodies will appreciate food trucks serving up diverse dishes from Greek and tacos to pizza and dumplins, with a rotating schedule of which trucks are serving when. Best of all, the drinks are cheap and aplenty. We recommend the Trash Can Punch, described on the menu as having New Amsterdam vodka and “other good stuff.” Make sure you scope out Truck Yard on Fridays from 4-6 for live music to make your visit extra bumpin’.
If you’re looking for an escape from the city, head to The Foundry. Guests are surrounded by trees, fairy lights, and a chilled out backyard vibe that makes for the perfect spot to kick back with a brew and hangout. Enjoy free live music every Friday and Saturday night, plus some of the best fried chicken in town thanks to The Foundry’s sibling Chicken Scratch, which it shares the space with. Check this place out on Tuesdays for crazy fun ping pong tournaments at 9 PM.
