Drink This: Hotel Bars in Dallas Worth the Stay

If you find yourself hitting the same bar where everyone knows your name and the bartender pours your regular without a word, you might be due for a new watering hole. Hitting up one of Dallas’ fantastic hotel bars is a good way to change things. As a Dallasite, it’s easy to overlook these spots; we live in Dallas, why would we go to a hotel? To try something new! To drink! Keep reading to learn about some of this fine city’s best hotel bars.

Midnight Rambler | The Joule

The Joule is an exceedingly hip hotel, and its subterranean bar is equally cool. The Midnight Rambler has a swanky aesthetic with ample leather upholstery and brass touches throughout that evoke the sexiest Parisian salon. While the interior is excellent, their drinks are even better. Midnight Rambler’s bartenders are incredibly adept at making you any drink you request. However, we recommend sticking to their established —yet rotating— list of cocktails. You’ll end up trying something you’ve never even heard of.

Izkina | Deep Ellum Hostel

Yeah, there’s a hostel in Dallas and it just happens to be home to one of Deep Ellum’s coolest new bars. Izkina brings Spanish-inspired drinks like the Kalimotxo (red wine and cola) plus inventive cocktails and tapas. It’ll be just like that semester you spent in Barcelona all over again.

Gallery Rooftop Lounge | CANVAS Hotel

The names might be different, but the view is still 100. Formerly the SODA Bar at formerly NYLO South Side, this rooftop bar made a splash when it originally opened earlier this decade thanks to its incredible skyline views and Infinity pool. Now rebranded, the Gallery Rooftop Lounge offers a laidback remedy to some of the more traditional bars on this list. Plus, the Instagram opportunity is too good to pass up.

The Library | The Warwick Hotel

The Library is one classy bar. With its dim lights, tall leather chairs and books adorning the walls, you’ll feel like a distinguished college professor as you sip your drink of choice. Get yourself a tweed jacket. In addition to a fantastic aesthetic and drink menu, the bar has live music six nights a week. What are you waiting for? Go drink like your English professor did!

Bourbon & Banter | The Statler

If you fancy yourself a bourbon aficionado, you don’t have an excuse to not make your way down to Bourbon & Banter. This speakeasy with a mid-century modern streak boasts a secret entrance in addition to a creative cocktail menu, so make sure you get the right number to dial when you find the payphone.

The Mansion Bar | The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

The Mansion Bar is connected to one of Dallas’ swankiest restaurants and while the bar exudes a vibe that Hemingway would be proud of, it gets surprisingly boisterous come Friday night as the crowd diversifies with everyone from middle-aged Highland Park folks to younger Highland Park folks temporarily living in Uptown. Dress nicely and try and grab a table early.
