Out of Bounds: Pro Teams Around North Texas Other Than The Cowboys and Mavs

The Cowboys might be in the midst of a playoff run and the Mavs might have the most exciting rookie in the league, but there are plenty of other sports options beyond them, the Rangers, Stars and FC Dallas. If you’re looking for some teams that occupy lesser-known sports and leagues, read on.

The Wings 2019 season under new head coach Brian Agler begins on the road in Atlanta on May 24 before returning for their home opener June 1 against Minnesota.

While the Rangers continue their march of mediocrity, their AA affiliate at least offers cheaper seats and, oh yeah, a lazy river on with all-you can eat hot dogs, brats, chips peanuts. Plus, on Thursdays, Deep Ellum Brewing throws a party behind center field. Think of it as the ultimate tailgate and you can say you saw future Rangers back when they were just coming up.

Current Season Record: 9-26-0

Anyone who’s seen Goon knows that minor league hockey can provide plenty of lo-fi fun. The Americans have been traditionally among the top teams in the ECHL (and the Central Hockey League previously) so even though their current season is disappointing, they can create fireworks.

League: NBA G League
Stadium: Dr Pepper Arena
Current Season Record: 8-15

If you’re an ‘80s or ‘90s child, there’s a high probability that you spent at least one night in Reunion Arena cheering on Tatu and the Sidekicks. The arena might be different, the colors might have changed and Tatu might not be associated with the team as of a few years ago, but you can still get your indoor soccer action fix right now through the middle of April.
