Weekend Guide: Smiling's Our Favorite Edition

To crib from Bing Crosby: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We have a very holiday-themed weekend guide ahead, so if you’re a grinch, maybe take a hike and check out the owls around Dallas. (Not a euphemism.)

Thursday, December 13 | Dallas Museum of Art

Only a cotton-headed ninnymuggins wouldn’t want to explore Santa’s Workshop at the DMA Thursday night. Build your own Buddy the Elf ornament, enjoy the four major food groups and sing loud for all to hear before settling in on the plaza for a screening of Elf complete with hot chocolate. We’re in a museum and we’re singing.

Friday, December 14 | Uptown

Crawl for a good reason (besides the inebriation) at the 12 Bars of Charity Pub Crawl through Uptown. Rep a charity close to you by signing up for their team and showing off their colors as you bounce around from BBC and Kung Fu to Black Friar and Eastwood’s in your team’s shirt. Charities include Leukemia Texas, Ronald McDonald House and Kidd’s Kids.

Saturday, December 15 | Deep Ellum

Another pub crawl? Seems impossible to keep up… and yet, you can expect that at least a few hearty spirits will be here after a night out in Uptown. You’ll proceed through one free drink at Deep Ellum Brewery, Dots Hop House & Cocktail Courtyard, Deep Ellum Distillery, Wits End, Twilite, Anvil Pub, Mama Tried and the proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Dress up as Santa, an elf, a reindeer or just a hungover person and get blitzen-ed in Deep Ellum. (We’re ready to be done with these holiday puns to be frankincense.)

Saturday, December 15 | Majestic Theatre

The Polyphonic Spree are taking over Majestic Theatre Saturday night for an all-ages holiday extravaganza in a way that only they can. Bring a new toy for Toys for Tots and canned goods for North Texas Food Bank as a display of the holiday spirit and get ready to enjoy the show.

Saturday, December 15 | Moxley Manor

It’s not all holiday cheer in North Texas. The 9th annual Nightscare Before Christmas takes over a haunted Moxley Manor for a one-night spooking with evil elves and Krampus. We sure hope everyone has stayed off the naughty list this year, because if you go into Moxley as a bad boy or girl, there’s no guarantee you’re coming out alive.
