Weekend Guide: Fall Festival Edition
We’re still riding our high from last weekend’s exhilarating Red River Rivalry, but this weekend, we’re looking for some more mellow activities. Thankfully, there are festivals all over town that promise relaxing events like flying kites, petting dogs, eating tacos and carving pumpkins. Plan your weekend below.
The Dallas Observer is putting on their 4th annual Tacolandia at the Dallas Farmers Market this Saturday, and that means unlimited samples of tacos from nearly three dozen vendors from Dallas and beyond. You’ll be able to finally settle the classic debate of where you can get the best tacos in town, because for at least this Saturday, the answer will be Tacolandia.
Is there anything as relaxing as just chilling out with a kite in the sky? The Trinity River Kite Festival includes stunt kite flyers, paragliders, bounce houses, food trucks and street artists. It all combines for a perfect fall afternoon for the whole family.
Walk the street all day Saturday at Lowest Greenville’s 2nd annual Fall Festival. Hop from restaurant to store and enjoy all of the unique specials available. A few to get you interested: $2 craft cocktails at Truck Yard, $2 samples of Milagro Tequila Old Fashion at Yucatan and free beer at Bullzerk. (There will be non-alcoholic deals as well, but we know what y’all like.)
This got moved from September thanks to bad weather, but they’re all still good dogs at the 25th Annual Dog Day Afternoon complete with Best K9 Costume, Stupid Pet Tricks and Best Pooch Smooch Contests with prizes; the Mutt Midway; low cost vaccinations; and a pet psychic.
Head to Lake Cliff Park for a full Sunday of roots-reggae music, live art, drum circles, bounce houses, food and more at the 5th Annual Oak Cliff Lively Fest. This free family-friendly event is also pet-friendly, so if you happened to get a dog at Operation Kindness Saturday, bring them too.
