Weekend Guide: Just Do Something Edition
When we said we wanted fall, we didn’t mean like this. Seriously, a week of cold and rain has us ready to do something, you know? Fortunately, there’s always something going on in Dallas (and surrounding areas) so get out there and do them!
We could really just use a drink right now. Fortunately, the Best Little Brewfest in Texas is going down in Old Town Lewisville this Saturday with more than 80 breweries plus food trucks and live music. And you can rest easy sampling the more than 300 beers knowing that all the profits go to help Alzheimer’s research and teen suicide prevention through Cloud 9 Charities.
It’s a Halloween costume contest for dogs — what else do you need? Fine, in addition to the contest (which can net you a one-year membership to MUTTS), there will be famous pups like Scooby the Corgi and Nelson the Golden Doodle on paw to judge plus drink specials and, again, tons of dogs in Halloween costumes. We can’t stress that enough.
Calling all Potterheads for a Hogwarts Pub Crawl. Be sure to have on your house colors and wand with you as you’ll be picking up your special mug and map at Playground Bar before exploring Diagon Alley a.k.a. Uptown. No word on whether your map possesses the Homonculous Charm, but all you need to know is the proper spell to fill up a pint.
It’s the perfect autumn Friday night for an evening with the deep lyrics and quiet melancholy of Gregory Alan Isakov. Honestly, his music has been on rotation all week with this rain, so we might as well go see him in person, right? See you there.
Oh, more dogs. We’re not even sorry. In celebration of Pit Bull Awareness Month & Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Love Pit and Lululemon are teaming up for a yoga class full of adoptable pit bull puppies running around. This all levels session also includes a raffle and mimosas, with proceeds going to rescuing puppy pits from kill shelters and supporting low-income individuals with breast cancer. Wear pink, adopt a dog and stretch it out.
