Weekend Guide: Meat & Booze Edition

It’s a good thing that swimsuit season is winding down, because this is the sort of weekend that will wreck any diet, no matter how well-intentioned. From barbecue festivals to the world’s largest charity cocktail party to, oh yeah, Oktoberfest, gluttony is definitely in. Consider this the first step in putting your winter coat on.

Plan your weekend below.

Saturday, September 22 | Main Street Garden

Just look at that meat up there. Doesn’t it look majestic in all its fatty, smoky goodness? It can be yours, you know. All you have to do is get a ticket to the 5th Annual Smoked Dallas at Main Street Garden this Saturday. You want big names? How about Louie Mueller, Kreuz and Black’s? Yeah, they’re bringing some of the OGs of Texas barbecue all to one spot. Time to put on the stretchy pants.

Friday, September 21 | Trees

The tireless partier, Andrew W.K., brings his infectious anthem rock to Trees for a Friday night full of positivity and partying. His new album, You’re Not Alone, brings his motivational speaking into the fold, so when he says he believes in the power of partying, he truly believes it. Party, dammit!

Saturday, September 22 | Bomb Factory

If you just want to keep the train rolling after eating your weight in BBQ on Saturday, then you’ll want tickets to the Ultimate Cocktail Experience at the Bomb Factory. Bartender teams work to create the best cocktail bars their mixology minds can think of complete with a name, brand, décor and original cocktail menu. Best of all, 100 percent of the proceeds go to Trigger’s Toys, a non-profit that collects toys for kids in need as well as serves chronically ill children and to reduce their financial and emotional stress. “Drink with a purpose,” my granddad always said.

Sunday, September 23 | American Airlines Center

Fresh off hanging with Teddy Perkins at the Emmys, Donald Glover brings his blend of rap, funk and soul to AAC Sunday night for his “This is America” tour. It’s definitely the coolest thing you could do on a Sunday night.

Thursday-Sunday September 20-23 | Addison Circle Park

In between doing all the things going on above, we highly recommend you spend the rest of your free time at Addison Oktoberfest. Just a ridiculous amount of German sausages, schnitzel and sauerkraut await. Oh, and beer. Lots and lots of beer. You’re going to gain 10 pounds this weekend, easy.
